An ancient temple complex spread across 402 acres, Angkor Wat is a breathtaking display of human ingenuity and craftsmanship that has endured for over nine centuries. As one of the largest religious monuments in the world, one, three and seven day passes are available to tourists and come with a hefty price tag (37 USD for a one-day pass as of this writing), however, it is well worth the price of admission. Tours are also available for sunrise and sunset.
You will hire a driver for the day, preferably a tuk tuk, to get around the complex with ease. Be sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and patience. Tourists are everywhere, crawling all over the temples, but as the site is so big there are plenty of opportunities to find your own spot and take in its' magnificence. Touring the complex can certainly be accomplished in one day, though history/archeological buffs are encouraged to buy the three day pass to explore the grounds at their leisure. There is no doubt that Angkor Wat deserves a spot on everyone's bucket list, and we hope to return again sometime soon.
