Yakima Valley may soon give Napa and Sonoma a run for their money and there's no better place to experience Washington's wine country than Cherrywood Bed and Breakfast. Situated on a large family farm, Cherrywood is not your ordinary bed and breakfast. Guests stay in traditional teepees, each outfitted with comfortable queen sized beds, ingredients for s'mores to be enjoyed by the private fire pit, and even your own outhouse. The 'twilight tubs' located on the other side of the property are the perfect spot for relaxing, disconnecting, and popping open a bottle of wine. Breakfast is included in your stay, and simply put, it is a delight. A delicious charcuterie board is served alongside homemade raspberry turnovers, traditional eggs and bacon with local coffee and tea.
There are plenty of activities to enjoy on the property, including a walk through the vineyards along the winding river, stargazing on a clear and quiet night, and enjoying a bonfire or soak in the tubs. When you do decide to venture out, there are countless wineries to try (most all serving tastings for $5), horseback riding and other outdoor activities, as well as wonderful dining options. Head to Two Mountains winery, just a stone's throw from Cherrywood, and Cowiche Canyon in town for dinner and cocktails.
Pepper, the owner, set out to create a special place to host guests, in turn providing an income stream so she can continue her efforts in rescuing horses. She has rescued dozens and has no plans of quitting anytime soon. Visitors see firsthand the love and care she has for these incredible animals on her farm, and will sleep soundly in their teepee knowing they are helping a great cause, even in the smallest of ways.
